semantic differential

semantic differential
A method of comparing the strengths and weaknesses of a product or company image with the competition by asking respondents to describe the product or company by choosing one of a pair of words or phrases that would best describe it, e. g. innovative or traditional, modern or old-fashioned. The mean of the responses is then plotted as a profile or image, usually using a 7-point scale.
